The speaker talked of the importance of STI testing for women in prostitution so that men wouldn’t pass diseases to their unknowing wives and cause ‘the breakup of families’. I was the only speaker that raised the idea that men’s demands for women and children in prostitution might not be natural or biological and should be challenged. The WI speaker was more concerned with women’s ‘human right’ to ‘work’ in prostitution.
